The Grand Canyon is welcomes millions of visitors each year who are drawn to its massive beauty and the myriad of outdoor sightseeing and athletic opportunities available throughout every season. Considered one of the most important and beautiful national landmarks within the United States, the Grand Canyon is managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Hualapi Tribal Nation and the Havasupai Tribe. The area is 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide, and it was a holy pilgrimage site for the Pueblo Indians. Although the Grand Canyon has been populated by Native Americans for thousands of years, the first Europeans who arrived to witness its spectacular grandeur arrived in the 16th century.
