Canyon Plaza Resort Grand Canyon

The Canyon Plaza Resort is a former Quality Inn. A bit dated looking, it does offer the basic comforts of a chain hotel. There is a restaurant and bar on-site as well as a pool and hot tub, perfect for resting tired feet and muscles after a long day exploring the Grand Canyon. Hotel staff should also be able to assist in finding and booking a tour, if you desire.  The proximity to the park – one mile from the gate of the South Rim, is tough to beat and the Southwest-style aesthetics make your visit feel just a bit more authentic.

JJK’s Restaurant is the hotel’s on-site dining option, offering family-style buffet as well as a full-service menu consisting of burgers, steaks, seafood and the like. JJK’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

One-room suites with a king size bed and sofa sleeper or two queen beds are offered and include a microwave, vanities and sitting areas. Their “deluxe” accommodations are just a bit smaller but promise they do not fall short on comfort.

The Down Low/411

If it’s the basics you want, you’ll find it here. You can’t beat the proximity to the Canyon unless you’re staying inside the gates. On the downside, the promised Internet service often seems to be out, people have complained that the bar is often closed and the breakfast is reputed to be unappetizing.

Who is it good for?

The Canyon Plaza Resort is appropriate for just about everyone in need of a decent place to bed down for the night. The swimming pool is a plus in the warmer months and a great place to unwind after a long day.
