Maswik Lodge

The variety of lodging options is what sets Maswik Lodge apart from its Tusayan lodging counterparts. While motel-room style lodging is generally what is offered, guests can choose just how “rustic” these rooms become. The biggest draw to Maswik Lodge is its proximity to the Canyon – just a ¼ mile away. The prices vary depending on how many amenities you tack on, but are a little less expensive than staying directly on the Rim.

On on-site cafeteria provides a variety of meal options for hungry visitors, including a Pizza Pub. The cafeteria is open between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Also located on-site is a gift shop and transportations/activities desk.

Current room offerings:

Maswik South rooms – These are considered more mid-level rooms with two queen size beds, a full bath, TV and telephone.

Maswik North rooms – These rooms are bigger than the Maswik South rooms and offer king size singles. These rooms also offer a few more creature comforts such as a mini-refrigerator, cable television, air conditioning and in-room coffee. Roll away cots are available upon request and on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Rustic” cabins – There is a reason these “cabins” are available only during the summer months as they offer the very basics in accommodations.  They have two queen size or two double beds, shower and a ceiling fan.

Amenities (vary, depending on room choice)

  • Air conditioning
  • Telephones
  • TV’s (some with cable)
  • Coffee makers
  • Mini-refrigerators

The Down Low/411

While the cabins are well-maintained, it’s nearly a no-brainer. If you choose to stay at the Maswik Lodge, book a Maswik North room as it is renovated and has air conditioning. A lack of sufficient parking seems to be a recurring theme at the South Rim in general, so its proximity to the park is a plus.

Although some have been bamboozled by the prices, don’t expect four-star quality for these on-site accommodations as you are paying for one of the most important things in real estate: location, location, location.

Who is it good for?

Maswik Lodge is a great place for those traveling in larger groups. Double rooms are the norm here as your basic motel style double can be situated in one section while a slightly larger, more modern doubles in another. Rustic cabins are great for those who prefer not to share walls with others.
