If your idea of visiting the Grand Canyon starts and stops with an exciting trip down the Colorado River, you’ve come to the right place. Wilderness River Adventures offers motorized or oar driven white water tours down the Colorado. Tours last days to weeks at a time and include overnight camping in the canyon and hiking. These tours are not for the feint of heart. White water rapids are a big part of the tour and you must be good enough shape to hike in and out of the canyon. But if two weeks in the wild sound right up your alley, you may be able to book the trip of a lifetime.

Reviews run heavily to the positive for this tour company. People found the experience exhilarating, informative and relaxing. Reading reviews, it seems doable for most ages as long as you’re active and so a good choice for a family trip. The disappointments appear to come from those who may not have gathered enough information prior to booking. If you want a top level, you-might-die-while-doing-it, white water tour, you’re bound to be disappointed. But if you want the whole back to nature shebang and still have someone to make your coffee in the morning, it looks like you’ve found your tour.
